The council for Sustainable Development was founded by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in April 2001. Associated to this council are 19 public figures. They are supposed to develop contributions for the implementation of the national strategy for sustainability, appoint fields of action and concrete projects and make sustainability an important public issue.

This homepage shows the particularities of the Local Agenda 21 process in Berlin, as it is a city and an administrative district at the same time, by this it has two levels: the districts (lower level) and the city as a whole (higher level). This means that there are also two different kinds of Local Agenda 21. One of the differences is that the work about Local Agenda 21 for the overall city has begun only recently.

It was founded in 1991 aiming at a sustainable development of the village and the region. Since its foundation it has implemented several projects and organized various events. BRICS+G. A Dialogue About Sustainability And Growth In Six Countries

The German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH have joined to initiate a dialogue-process between Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (the BRICS) and Germany. The purpose of the project is to offer a platform for exchange among experts from government, the economy and civil society of the BRICS-Countries and Germany. While a focus is placed on experiences with National Strategies for Sustainable Development, discussions are also expected to refer to examples from the areas of energy, resource management and the social dimension.

genanet – focal point gender, environment, sustainability

Genanet considers gender justice and indispensible prerequisite for sustainable development. Genanet has been created to raise awareness of gender equity in environment and sustainability policy and to integrate it into research, to implement gender mainstreaming in environmental policymaking and into the activities of environmental organisations. Genanet will prepare position statements on recent environment and sustainability issues, discuss strategies to implement gender mainstreaming and will put structures in place to allow effective lobbying of environment policy decisions from a gender perspektive.

International Cultural Centre ufa Fabrik Berlin

The International Centre for Culture and Ecology ufa Fabrik Berlin, that is a-one-of-a-kind European project combining living and working project, was founded in 1979. The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt DBU is one of Europe's largest foundations and promotes innovative and exemplary environmental projects. Since 1991, almost 5500 projects have received financial backing totalling about € 1 billion. The promotional activities concentrate on environmental technology and research, nature conservation, environmental communication and cultural assets. The Board of Advisors is the executive committee of the foundation, voting for the most important decisions. It consists of 14 members appointed by the Federal Government.
