Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) was founded in 1990 as the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives. More than 470 cities, towns, counties, and associations worldwide comprise ICLEI's growing membership. ICLEI works with these and hundreds of other local governments through international performance-based, results-oriented campaigns and programs.

Baltic Local Agenda 21 Forum

The Baltic Local Agenda 21 Forum (BLA21F) is a network of experts from local authorities, NGOs and various other organisations around the Baltic Sea as well as business and local people interested in LA 21 work who share a dedication to sustainable development. The main goal is to encourage the local level to carry out Sustainable Development. BLA21F aims at creating an active cooperation network in the Baltic Sea Region. The aim of the network is to strengthen and support Local Agenda 21 processes in all eleven Baltic Sea countries. A special emphasis is given to the countries in the eastern part of the region.

European Environment Agency

The European Environment Agency is the EU body dedicated to providing sound and independent information on the environment. It is a major information source for those involved in developing, adopting, implementing and evaluating environmental policy, and also the general public. Its aim is to help the EU and member countries make informed decisions about improving the environment, integrating environmental considerations into economic policies. To do this, it provides a wide range of information and assessments.

Regional Environmental Centre for Central and Eastern Europe

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) is a non-partisan, non-advocacy and not-profit international organisation with the mission to assist in solving environmental problems in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The centre fulfils this mission by promoting cooperation among non-governmental organisations, governments, businesses and other environmental stakeholders, and by supporting the free exchange of information and public participation in environmental decision-making. The REC was established in 1990 by the United States, the European Commission and Hungary.
