Final conference: 19th/20th April 2007 - Warsaw, Poland
Challenges of Climate Change – global and local strategies to save the planet
Meeting place: Centrum Prasowe Foksal (Dom Dziennikarza, ul. Foksal 3/5, 00-366 Warszawa)
Implementation of sustainability strategies depends on citizen’s participation on a European, national and local level. This becomes especially obvious concerning the pressuring problem of climate change, which is going to be the focus of the conference in Warsaw. The topic of sustainability often faces denial and indifference especially in economically weaker states. Other topics seem to be more important. But climate change effects all of us.
Climate Change and Global warming are no longer speculation of a small group of scientists, but inescapable reality. The unheard voices of climate experts found their way into public discourse through several alarming recently published reports. With the report of the International Panel for Climate Change IPCC, a broad political discussion started how to stop climate change and which are reliable strategies to succeed. On the one side, communication of the problems connected with climate change is necessary. On the other hand political strategies and individual change need to be discussed, as well as global and local action to be developed.
What does climate change mean for development in Europe? Which are possible strategies to stop climate change? Which role do renewable energies play and what other aspects of sustainability strategies are useful to deal with the pressuring problem of global climate change?
